Zalmi captain, Darren Sammy, is seeking Pakistani citizenship. "President Arif Alvi will give Darren Sammy the highest citizens award and honorary citizenship on March 23 for his invaluable contribution to cricket in Pakistan."According to the information , Javed Afridi, during a meeting with PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani, disclosed that he wanted honorary citizenship for Darren Sammy. "Sammy was the first player to say yes to visit Pakistan. He is the most liked and welcome foreign cricketer in Pakistan. Afridi had earlier requested PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani to request the president to consider an honorary citizenship for Sammy. "When Sammy was supporting cricket, he did not do so to get citizenship. This is our recognition for their services," he said. "This will encourage everyone who come here to support Pakistan cricket."


"My love for Pakistan is natural, my contribution to this country is pure. I do not need a passport to show my love for this country. It is good that I am recognized, but I did not do it for myself. It is the love of people and the love of Pakistan."  Sammy said,
